Fried Green Tomatoes



A classic Southern dish that absolutely needs to be cooked in a cast iron skillet. Great for any meal or any occasion.

Ingredients
Green Tomatoes, Sliced Fairly Thick
Corn Starch
Water
Flour
Corn Meal

Directions
Mix the water and corn starch in a bowl until is paste-like
Mix the flour and cornmeal in another bowl; equal amounts or a little more corn meal than flour
Dredge each tomato slice in the corn starch/water paste and the in the corn meal/flour mixture making sure to coat each slice well
Heat a cast iron skillet and add enough peanut oil to coat the bottom of the skillet
Fry each tomato slice for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until nice and brown
